Shemane Nugent was taken into custody, airport spokesman David Magana told the Dallas Morning News, and “the rest of it is working its way through our system of legal approval.”

Geeze...Rule #1:No firearms or explosives at the airport.

WRONG.

It is perfectly all right to declare a firearm in a checked bag, even with ammo; people I know fly with them, and thousands do it every day. The firearm has to be separate from the ammo, which has to be in "a" factory ammo box (doesn't matter if you just re-use an old one for your reloads), and the whole kit and kaboodle has to be in a LOCKED case that CANNOT be opened by the TSA. Yes, cannot. Otherwise, it is a violation of federal law.

The locked case can be in your regular bag. Again, I know people who do this every week.

Mrs. Nugent's mistake was not declaring a firearm, and not filling out the form.

Or mistaking that she has Rights and lives in a "free Country" where you don't need to jump through some bureaucrats illegal hoops...

apostrophe alert: the apostrophe is not used to create a plural - when referring to a couple or a family or a group, simply add the S: the Smiths, the Browns, the Nugents, the Kennedys, the Nazis, the Democrats.

LOL. I applaud the creativity of your grammar cop action here, but you do no that know good will come of it.

If she has a conceal carry permit, this will be a misdemeanor offense. No permit and it’s a felony. TSA can fine her from $3-$11,000 on the misdemeanor charge and, since she’s Ted’s wife, I’d expect the higher amount. If a felony, look for high fines and legal fees plus maybe a suspended sentence.

Fined and threatened with incarceration for exercising a Right.

There’s a whole lot wrong with that notion...

Right to have a gun...There is not a right to board a plane. Airlines are commercial operations and can impose rules. They can enforce their rules...you don’t like them, find some way else to get to Podunk...like drive.

If you want to fly, follow the rules. The rules are not unduly difficult.

There is no Federal power given to the FedGov to create a group like the TSA nor the FAA.

They are the ones that made these rules, not the airlines.

You do know how all this works right? It wasn’t the airlines that arrested her...

Don’t you have some papers to grade, flies to render flightless, or windows to wash?
