Never underestimate the power of political correctness and the brainwashing that has gone on in the West regarding race. This guy is only 20 years old and is likely a Liberal given him wanting to move to Portland. He likely really doesn't understand that there is a greater threat to him riding down MLK Boulevard than there is riding down Main Street in Mayberry. Then, if he did for a second think that MLK Boulevard would be more dangerous, he would be so overcome with white guilt that he would ride down MLK Blvd. anyway to prove he's not racist.

So many people today can't think straight or won't think straight because it's un-PC.

There is a reason for that. No matter what the makeup of a city or town council, mayorship, etc. whenever a street, boulevard, etc. is up for a name change to MLK whatever, the white people go along with it because it is a good warning sign for out-of-towners and clueless residents.
