SOUTHFIELD (WWJ/AP) - A local McDonalds restaurant was forced to close after its employees walked out and hundreds gathered outside to protest for higher wages.
The restaurant on 8 Mile and Lahser roads along the Detroit/Southfield city line was just one location locally where fast food workers are participating in a nationwide walkout for better wages.
Over 200 protestors crowded the restaurant, carrying signs that read We are worth more. Strike for 15, as in $15 an hour...

Has been awhile since I’ve darkened Kmart’s door. Last time I swear half an hour after Katrina shops on Bourbon Street were cleaner and more organized.
And....Soon this plot of land will sport a vacant building with small trees growing through the roof.
No jobs, no McDonalds. Now wait for the ‘food desert’ complaints about how there is nowhere to eat and no business in da hood!
Were I the manager of that McD’s, every staffer who walked out the door would have been handed pink slips and their final cheque, and barred for life from my store(s). I would NOT ask the staff who were off duty to report until a day or two later, I’d just shut the doors until then.
I would also have adequate security on site in case there was a sudden eruption of “mob-ness”. It’s amazing how well even the feral behave when confronted with armed men.
“Robotics....get rid of the fat twerking ass, can speak any known language employees...”
The biggest problem would be designing a customer operated touch screen so easy to use a cave man could do it as in some areas like Detroit a cave man would have superior intellect.
The comments are brutal against the strikers and this is not published CBS Detroit site.
Do you know how a restaurant has to "purchase" to be able to offer "all you can eat" for just $4.99 all day?
You never heard of Marvin the depressed robot in "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"?
Marvin: Do you want me to sit in a corner and rust or just fall apart where I'm standing?
$12 for lunch at McDonalds. WOW! That’s more than going to Five Guys.
My first job was at Kentucky Fried Chicken and I got $1.35 per hour.
My next job was working in a hospital for $3.39 per hour. And I bought a new car, paid for my wedding and saved for a down payment on a house.
These people ought to just shut up.
There’s a spirit flitting around in this world that comes to “kill, steal, and destroy” [paraphrase].
That’s what these unions have latched onto. It lies and tells the unions that it is power. Power alright... to ruin stuff. In general to get in God’s face... a God who desires earnestly to bless. A really spiritually stupid thing for the unions to get involved with... but this is the age old choice of repentance (or not, and if so, when) from the folly of the Garden.
“don’t have to worry about saliva sauce being added to my food. If you know what I mean.”
I do know what you mean, thats whats so great about 5guys, the food is prepared right out front where you can watch every step.
When I was in a wholesale business in Florida in the 80s, during the bad economic periods, I had some (retail) customers that had a strange understanding of economics.
Business got slow, profits down, so they *raised* their prices. Their “logic” was that since selling fewer items, they had to make more on each item. Want to know how well that worked?
Once, for an experiment, I offered to cut my price if they would cut theirs also & work on a smaller margin. No takers.

The judge was stupid enough to say that "it's the cost of being a citizen". Really? If my beliefs and my religion prevent me from sanctioning gay marriage, where does it say in the Constitution the gov't has the right to force me to subvert my beliefs? Oh...wait...this administration has tossed out the Constitution.
Amen, econjack. Welcome to post-constitutional America. We still have private property, but government manages each and every least, last aspect of it for its own benefit.
sorry, i meant post 22
Nothing wrong with negotiations per se, but it would work far better if done in the RIGHT spirit and not in the WRONG one. There ought to be MORE sweetheart deals, in fact where EVERYBODY is a sweetheart... dig?
Oh, but they do. You just don’t realize it when they conscript your taxes to pay for their Obamaphones, EBT cards and other transfer payments which enable them to buy food you can’t afford and drive off with it in cars you can’t afford.
