AP Exclusive: Obama offers new gun control steps

Striving to take action where Congress would not, the Obama administration announced new steps Thursday on gun control, curbing the import of military surplus weapons and proposing to close a little-known loophole that lets felons and others circumvent background checks by registering guns to corporations.
Four months after a gun control drive collapsed spectacularly in the Senate, President Barack Obama added two more executive actions to a list of 23 steps the White House determined Obama could take on his own to reduce gun violence. With the political world focused on Mideast tensions and looming fiscal battles, the move signaled Obama's intent to show he hasn't lost sight of a cause he took up after 20 first graders and six adults were gunned down last year in an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.

What 'others'? There is only felons and NOT-felons (everyone else) I was looking at this on another thread, and you might be surprised to learn there has been a Federal law since 1997 that prohibits gun ownership for people convicted of Misdemeanor Domestic Violence and also people with Restraining Orders against them. Note that ROs do not require any kind of due process.

... the move signaled Obama's intent to show he hasn't lost sight of a cause he took up after 20 first graders and six adults were gunned down last year in an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. Oh, puhleeze. He acquired this "cause" 15 minutes after his first indoctrination into Marxist philosophy. And that was probably years before his tutelage as a teenager by well-known and seld-declared communist Frank Marshall Davis.
"After Newtown," my butt.

...the White House determined Obama could take on his own to reduce gun violence. Why isn't the Supreme Court giddy to get this case?

Never ceases to really amaze me the arguments they give for gun control....they might better put all that effort at ‘increasing and enforcing the laws’ against ‘criminals’ who use them...but then asking them to do their job is pointless.

With the political world focused on Mideast tensions and looming fiscal battles, the move signaled Obama's intent to show he hasn't lost sight of a cause he took up after 20 first graders and six adults were gunned down last year of his desire to destroy freedom and to do so on the bodies of innocent, dead children.

Taking the guns from Federal agents would definitely take guns off the streets that don’t need to be there.

There are few signs the calculus in Congress has changed dramatically since April, when a package of measures including expanded background checks and an assault weapons ban flopped in the Senate despite intense advocacy by families of the 20 children and six adults gunned down in December in Newtown, Conn.Being from CT, I treat these "families" no different than any other politician. They lost all my sympathy once they began their road trip to support gun control.
