I think a big part of the scandal in this case is that the performer in question is Miley Cyrus and so many people are shocked at seeing ‘Hannah Montana’ go from the cute, girl-next-door, into being a virtual pole dancing stripper.

I doubt there’d be so much controversy about this had the exact same performance been carried out by Lady GaGa or some other trollop. We expect this kind of thing from them and not from a beloved star of children’s programming.

Differences between Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus: Lady Gaga would have ensured a massive payoff from doing that performance on the VMA, so that if it blew up in her face, she would have been just fine. Miley Cyrus was paid scale for her performance.

Acts like a slut and has no business sense... I feel for her father.

This is all from Disney. They spew out these brats, lure kids to them, then turn around and push drugs, sex and gangsta BS. Walt Disney must be spinning in his grave faster than John Kerry with flip-flops. I remember a time when Disney wouldn’t even let hippies into Disney land. Now it’s the complete opposite. This all started with that slimebag Michael Eisner. Not to mention it’s completely destroyed mainstream music with this karaoke lip-syncing crap.

Even if you throw out the whole good-girl-gone-bad thing and forgot “who” was singing... You still had a scrawny girl thrashing about with a teddy bear on her outfit - the “eyes” being Miley’s small breasts. Large Teddy Bears stumbling awkwardly about the stage. At one point Miley stops and spanks the exaggerated derrière of a black tranny.
And this is all BEFORE she strips down to a nude bikini so she can grind with the fully dressed much older man.
She was cringe inducingly bad and I don’t know why anyone would think hanging your tongue out constantly is - at all - cool or appealing.

I’ve seen more complaints that her performance was racist.

A while back, “Hannah Montana” appeared in an interview with her dad, Billy Ray. She smart-mouthed and put him down throughout; obviously regarded him as a redneck hayseed. - Bottom line; the love of MONEY truly IS the root of all evil. - This recent obscene behavior is all about advancing her “career” and selling records. Money, money, money, money, first, last, and always.

It's pretty obvious that Cyrus is trying to dump her child star persona and move on to jump start an adult career.

There was some other child star who played a stripper to try to do the same thing. It did not work out so well for her, despite the hype.

The saying in Hollywood is that there is no such thing as bad publicity and MTV and Cyrus have hit a PR grand slam when it comes to exposure.

Time will tell if the hype pays off for Cyrus, but for now she just got untold hours of free air time and of thousands of man hours of media flacks writing stories about her.

All told, just under a half billion dollars worth of media exposure for free.

We are all being played by Miley and her publicist.
