I liked Camile Paglia’s take on it: Miley should go back to school. What she meant is, where Madonna was a classically trained dancer who worked with artistic types to create her performances, Miley is just a sleazy poor imitation.

My favorite quote re: this epozootey is from Alexa Chang, "Just woke up from a nightmare about Beetlejuice and a child in latex underwear grinding on him."

Most of todays celebs are lacking the talent and years of serious training of previous generations of entertainers.

Even Madonna was a piker compared to the entertainers of the 30s, 40s and 50s. The decline seemed to coincide with the rise of the baby boom generation is is getting progressively worse as time goes by.

The Miley Cyrus act was creepy and in bad taste, which is forgivable. What is not forgivable was lack of talent on display.

To see how a talented, classically trained dancer does sexy and trashy right, with grace and style and superb choreography, check out this Barrie Chase stripper scene from the 1958 movie “Mardi Gras”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fwB19f4Xgc

Open the Chase number and the Miley Cyrus MTV performance side by side and see which one gets the replay button hit the most often.

Miley needs to do her home work a little better in the future
