As the war drums for Syria get louder, let this thread serve as a repository for news, background, Tweets, photos, video, on-the-ground reports, etc., as was done recently with Egypt.
Most of the pictures are of tubes for 107mm rockets of which there are 1000s of in Syria. The alternative is laying them on the ground and using sandbags or rubble for elevation. A tip is that if the ‘butt’ end isn’t way lower than the ‘muzzle’ it isn’t a mortar. A 4” hole in the pipe and a battery will be a rocket launcher. Pretty good milling for the 82mm mortars, I wonder what they use for explosive fill. Recycling from other shells would be pretty exciting.
Thanks....but that has English written all over it...so it came from us.
I do know they go out an collect unexpoded shells exploded and recycle them..they have been reported doing so. And no doubt they would with their limitations.
I found it very interesting the innovations they are using to get the job done they want done...certainly crude..but even if only somewhat effective...it’s amazing their determination to win this...and they are at it 24/7.
Sadly though..we are going into this muck and mire..I have no doubt..and not just with a surgical strike...that’s just the match......and why Bo went to get congressional approval....first thing the lawyers said it was too broad...and Obama was quick to settle for any rewording....all he needs is the match...and that he will get....when it all breaks loose he’ll get the whole sha-bang and we’re in a war with only God knows who by then.
Thank you caww for your dedication. All this wrong hurts my head.
The Ottoman empire fell as a result of WW1 and under the leadership of Ataturk the republic of Turkey was starting to form ~1924.
This new secular government ticked off lots of muslims who by ~1928 formed the muslim brotherhood, whose goal was the re-establishment of the caliphate.
The caliphate is still the objective today.
They believe that before they can deal effectively with their enemies, muslim countries must be united.
Overthrowing dictators of secular governments and replacing them with fanatical islamists makes absolutely no sense especially with Iranian nuke efforts supposedly nearing
completion. What kind of a hell brew in the making is this?
What kind of people are the enablers of this?
In the midst of all this crap going on...I respect and pray for Israel .
Thankfully Egypt saw what was coming and resisted (for now).
I don’t believe it makes any difference that these groups are diverse and at each others throats because of what is common to them all; that is islam and anything that promotes islam.
Weakness on our part (not understanding the koran & how it motivates) promotes islam. All it will take for them is the right leadership.
Teenagers today are in for a rough ride, they better wake up.
islam is a very dangerous enemy, far surpassing that of the old Soviet Union or Nazi Germany, even more so when Western leaders get in bed with them.
Think about it! 1400 years. The Soviet Union lasted how long? Rome?
The Dems are misguided, corrupt, evil and they have lots of company on the other side of the isle. Who knows where this s@@t is going to take us.
To me islam is a disgusting revolting ideology and a scourge upon the earth. That’s why I omit some caps. Same for, but not limited to zero/a^^hat.
Maranatha !
That is Zu-23-2, it is a Soviet AA gun. While the Qaeda MAY have got it from the US, it is more likely they captured it from the Syrian army or from their Iranian/Iraqi comrades. The rocket pod referenced earlier MAY have come from the US, but it isn’t US origin, it is Soviet.
The only english words I see are ‘test’ and ‘test plug’. On the lower aft of the pod, what english words ends in ‘ppui’?
My mistake, it is French.
