As the war drums for Syria get louder, let this thread serve as a repository for news, background, Tweets, photos, video, on-the-ground reports, etc., as was done recently with Egypt.

#UN council powers meeting again on #Syria http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/russia-calls-urgent-council-meeting-syria-20107320
Envoys from the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China entered the meeting Thursday afternoon at U.N. headquarters.
A tension-filled meeting Wednesday ended with the council bitterly divided over a U.K.-proposed resolution to authorize the use of military force against Syria in retaliation for an alleged chemical weapons attack that killed hundreds near Damascus.
Russia remains firmly opposed to such action, saying there is no evidence the Syrian regime was responsible for the attack, as the U.S. and its allies contend.
A Western diplomat, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the talks were private, said Russia called Thursday’s meeting. Russia’s U.N. mission refused to comment.

AND, “When Greta asked if he has spoken to the president he answered proudly and defiantly that he had and added that he also had a long conversation with Biden.”
IIRC McCain said he spoke to pres “a few” or “several” days ago.
“Had a long conversation with Biden”
in one ear and out the other comes to mind. Makes me think Obama stopped taking McCain’s phone calls.
McCain’s a useful idiot only when it serves Obama’s purposes. On Syria, lately, McCain is off the reservation and serving another master, IMO.

Reuters Exclusive: Syrian army moves Scud missiles to avoid strike
President Bashar al-Assad’s forces have removed several Scud missiles and dozens of launchers from a base north of Damascus, possibly to protect the weapons from a Western attack, opposition sources said on Thursday.
The move from the position in the foothills of the Qalamoun mountains, one of Syria’s most heavily militarized districts, appears part of a precautionary but limited redeployment of armaments in areas of central Syria still held by Assad’s forces, diplomats based in the Middle East told Reuters.
...”I remain deeply suspicious that the US has Assads smoking gun”.....
What they do with it will be another story....but I agree...otherwise why didn’t they let the UN Investigation Team remain long enough to investigate further what Assad had to show them....note ‘it was Obama’ who denied Assad’s request to have them remain a little longer..
Ruse movements time.
Hey buddy!
Great to see you!
Sure hope you are wrong though.

Russia got its “closed-door” meeting.
I am unfamiliar with respect to how often that happens on the sliding scale of often-rarely.
Guess:Obama dare not hit the golf course, so he is relegated to shooting some hoops.
@JimAcostaCNN : @StevenTDennis I asked Magic Johnson what his meeting with Obama was about. “I’m going to find out,” he said.
bet Rodman failed.

@JimAcostaCNN Is the “red line” actually a free throw line?
Might be a call for a larry.

very possible that we get talking-point feedback from tonight’s conf call that carries the obama adm talking-points through the weekend.
Since his strike coalition is falling apart, obama adm wants to ratchet down his rhetoric while building his “case/evidence” for a strike.
For now, the pounding war drumsticks have been replaced by snare-drum brush-sticks marking time-—even while he continues to build military for action.
Have the 9% favoring Syria strike poll numbers moved?
Obama is back to leaving his options open...wide open.
