If I lived in Israel I would have obtained a gas mask a long time ago!
Besides personal survival, if everyone had masks and there was an attack it could make the difference between Israel launching a nuke in retaliation or using conventional means to destroy the enemy. If there were 10,000 deaths instead of 0 deaths, a nuclear response is all but certain.
Fitting masks is hard for small children or men with large beards.
