George Zimmerman was on the hunt today -- for a shotgun ... TMZ has learned.
Zimmerman went to Kel-Tec in Cocoa, Florida ... a gun manufacturing company. We're told he was asking questions about the legality of buying a shotgun -- specifically, the Kel-Tec KSG.
The gun in question is a tactical shotgun, often used for home defense. It holds 12 rounds of 12 gauge shells.
And this is interesting ... Kel-Tec manufactures the PF-9 gun -- the pistol Zimmerman used to kill Trayvon Martin.
We're told the owner's son took Zimmerman on a tour of the grounds, including the area where the firearms are assembled. The photo of Zimmerman and an employee (above) was taken inside the assembly plant.
It's unclear if he actually bought the shotgun while he was there.

No ones business what Mr. Zimmerman chooses to do with his time and/or money.
Boy do I love the look of that KSG!!!
Obviously some one in the plant either sold the photo or sent it to TMZ. It is too bad that some one whose living depends on making firearms would do this despicable thing.
this is not good publicity - did Zimmerman know his travels are being recorded by the press??
This must be a new edition of the KSG. Mine holds seven shells in each tube and one in the pipe. Amazing tactical shotgun.
Right on about TMZ...
Interesting that both George Zimmerman and Paula Dean are, or were, Democrats, Zero supporters and had no real racist inclinations from what I could tell. Yet both were demonized by the media... The Left eating their own, I guess.
Apologies for maybe being Captain Obvious and thanks for the post.
IIRC, Mark O’Mara set this up. He wanted it seen.
The KSG looks bad-backside but... It has some usability issues. Look up Hickok45’s review of it on YouTube. I trust H45’s outlook on firearms, and the KSG is just not quite there yet.
I don’t know. There were feed issues and IIRC sharp edges as well as an all too easy short stroke problem.
And the issue of switching over mag tubes while under pressure and trying to rack another round.
Saiga 12 for me.
Agreed, but you have to hand it to Keltec for fresh ideas.
I know zero about this weapon. Where is the firing mechanism, right next to your ear?
>> this is not good publicity
Aw, cut the concern troll crap. Z was **acquitted**. He is guilty of exactly NOTHING. He’s a free man — free to do what other free men do. Like tour weapons plants and buy shotguns.
>> The Kel-Tec KSG is pretty cool.
It looks awesome — and the idea of 12 rounds all loaded and ready to go is appealing.
But I think I’ll keep my Mossy 590 (8+1, that’s not so bad capacitywise) and put my gun money into something else.

What?
Mossberg 500 tactical for me. Though I did give up on the pistol-grip only option and put an adjustable stock on it. Pistol grips look cool in the movies, but try putting a few rounds through it quickly and accurately - not bird shot, high brass buck... I’m no shrinking violet but even I couldn’t handle it comfortably under stress, let alone the wife. (who is slender)
Oh yeah, I like the idea, the look, etc. I think when they work the kinks out it’ll be great. From what I’ve seen of them they are entirely usable as-is, just there are things about them that could be better.
