I can see the bad guys arranging for a devastating cyber-attack and then claiming someone else did it.
But their is no way to fake a natural disaster.

The writing suggests that the tone Napolitano is taking is on e of 'eventuality' and not 'imminence'. Sounds more like she is stating the obvious -- that a cyber attack will someday occur, and so will a large natural disaster.
My personal fear for the drop-dead-moment will be when America can no longer pay its bills. That day is likely before Obama's second term concludes.

Not to worry. Totalitarian Government will protect you. Just give up all control and do as you are told.

The outgoing Homeland Security Secretary has a warning for her successor: A massive and serious cyber attack on the U.S. homeland is coming, and a natural disaster the likes of which the nation has never seen is also likely on its way. Ok, now I understand.
Our beautiful country was turned into a third world creepy police state because the witch was 'protecting' us from - ummm - a 'natural disaster'. Or... maybe a cyber attack? And Janet couldn't do that without peeking into our private lives and stock piling enough weapons and lies to kill us many times over...
Yep, I buy that justification../s

Maybe the creepy control freaks who like to snoop into people's bedrooms and check out ex-lovers at the NSA, FBI and IRS bought into this bullsh*t too.. It would explain a lot.

Yup.
It also really is what I think the government would do if such a thing really were on the near horizon. Heck, it’s what I would do if the decision was mine.

One of the most “interesting” aspects of a collapse of the grid and the computer networks is that we will lose almost all comms, so we won’t even know for sure if it was a cyber attack, a solar flare, or some cascading tech glitch. We might wake up in the dark, and never know what exactly caused it.
