***But as a city girl, it was very interesting to find out the background and history of this kind of act.****
I saw this same act played in a Rodeo ring back in 1968.
The purpose of the clown is to distract the animal while thrown riders run toward the fence.
Clowns work in pairs.
One clown pulls a “dummy” into the ring, often with a presidental mask on it, then props it up with a broomstick.
Bull bucks out, may not go toward the dummy.
Next bull comes out, throws his rider and, seeing the dummy, attacks toward.
Dummy suddenly comes to life, grabs the broomstick and swats the bull on the butt. Bull chases the “dummy” toward the fence allowing the thrown rider makes toward the opposite fence.
Seems to me that there is an abysmal loss of a national sense of humor. Things that once were funny now just attract law suits.
Jase Robertson (Duck Dynasty) displayed class recently. After being ejected from a New York hotel as a homeless bum, he mildly pointed out that he had been Beard Profiled. Jase made a joke of it, which once was the American way.
But in the end, it plants the seeds for a second revolt.
