My phone (Panasonic KX-TG2343) autodialed 911 once, too. Twice the same day, actually. The first time, nobody was home. Second time, sheriff's deputy showed up at 3AM, pounding HARD on the front door. Startled me awake. Armed myself, went to the front window, saw a uniformed officer, put the gun aside, then opened the door while in my skivvies. He asked if everything was okay, did anybody call 911, was my phone working? I asked him to wait a sec, while I got some pants, would check phone.

At that hour, in these parts, no "save a trip" value. Nothing going on anyway, and they patrol within a few miles at all hours.

The phone was taken out of service. It had taken itself offhook, got a dialtone, and called 911. Was offhook when I picked it up.

I don't remember what the dogs were doing, except they weren't around to answer the door. They would be, today. Action at the door is major excitement, the BEST excuse for barking up a storm.

I used to listen to police scanners alot. Funniest thing I heard was when some Moron at a local high school swipped a hand held police radio from the office. He got on it and proceeded to have some fun with a few choice words for Sheriff and deputies. Well what he didn't know was it had a GPS locator in it. After about an hour it suddenly went silent. Story in the news next morning was about man arrested for stealing police radio.

Another funny one was in a nearby small town called Norris years ago. I was listening on their frequency about 45 MHZ and heard "This is a national alert. Be on the look out for female" and starting giving description and suddenly went silent.

I had trained ears and noticed it was a different level of modulation & much louder. The officer and dispatcher was saying was that you to each other. I called their PD and said I heard what you heard on the scanner. It was SKIP. The guy said OK who's Skip? LOL.
