When I was in high school one of my best friend’s family caught wild pigs for sport and bacon. They had a pack of dogs and would hunt them on the Eglin AFB reservation.
The dogs would bay them and the people would grab them by the hind legs, put them in a pen in their pickup and take them home. They would prepare the males and feed them for a few months before slaughtering them.
Their dogs were all scarred up but the humans had never been injured.
One of my father’s neighbors is called out by law enforcement to take care of some problem hogs, even some that got to a downtown Austin, TX parking lot. Some office people were trapped in their cars by the feral hogs. Austin PD cordoned off the area, and the neigbor arrived with his retriever dogs. The dogs distracted the hogs until commanded, and the hogs were shot. He gets paid some decent money for these calls.
