Stray dogs are a common sight in Detroit. What about a big cat?

According to reports, many residents on the city’s northeast side have seen what appears to be an exotic cat, perhaps as tall as four feet, roaming the streets.

Officials with the Michigan Humane Society said they have received several calls about the animal and workers are out in the city, trying to find the feline.

Antwaun Asberry, a 6-foot-5 Detroiter, told the Detroit Free Press the cat’s tail is longer than his arm.

“I was like, what the (expletive) … I don’t know what it is. I just want it gone,” Asberry said. ”He walked like he ain’t scared of nothing… This thing is out here, bro.”

It's probably just Chauncey. He's been out of work for a while now and probably wandered over from Dearborn.

Hey, if the wild animals start cutting down on the wild (formerly pets) dog population I’m all for it.

Detroit is returning to a state of nature.

“Rewilding” is the term from Agenda 21.

Exactly! When an area goes back to wilderness, then the denizens rule.

Cheetahs have a lot of doglike traits. They’re one of the closest to domestic of the big cats, and were sometimes tamed in ancient Egypt to hunt much the way other cultures used fast and agile sighthounds. Furthermore, they seem to pair bond or even pack bond to some extent, and zoos have taken to raising them with a canine pal, usually an affable medium sized dog like a retriever.

Leopards otoh are among the most likely to go mankiller...

What do you think? If his name was Seamus McNamara, would you have made the comment?

They shot a 150 lb cougar in the Northern suburbs of Chicago in 2008. It was over 500 miles from its home. Here is a picture of it just before it was killed.

Just saying it's not a problem caused by being Detroit......

When the Bankruptcy was announced Art Laffer said that he believes Detroit will eventually prove to be in a lot better shape than many American if they don't turn themselves around.

Detroit is the northern gate of the busiest trade corridor on the continent and its currently a bottleneck with one bridge. A second bridge will be a game changer for at least part of the city.

Basically we're trying to force the same amount of trade through here as passes through Laredo.

The Detroit Zoo( which is actually in Royal Oak)seems to be funded mainly by other sources than the City of Detroit, but there is some concern. The Detroit Zoological Society is separate from the City of Detroit.

A tiger???

Well we know for certain it's not a lion. There hasn't been a real lion sighted in Detroit since 1957.......

The last half of the article was an alleged citing in Warren in the 13 Mile Van Dyke area.

I thought it was a small deer – it had the spots on it

I suspect it was a deer, I saw two medium sized fawns at 14 mile and Mound Thursday morning eating on the edge of a small wooded area.

Detroit is a zoo.

And turning into a natural habitat for wild animals.

I really do feel sorry for those who are trying to live decent lives there and take care of their kids and are too poor to get out. I’m sure those people exist there too. God help them.
