The Republicans have had the power since the 2010 elections to defund it. They already own it just like they and George W. Bush own the doubling of the national debt during his administration. Yes, Obama is more fiscally irresponsible than Bush. However Bush took 3 years of balanced budgets and immediately began flowing red ink. Had he continued the balanced budgets of the final Clinton years it would have been much more difficult for Obama to bust the budget.
