Couldn't agree more. I simply point out products and services like internet access. If you want high speed internet access where I live, your choices are AT&T and Comcast. Both contribute heavily to what I'd call anti-Conservative causes which I disagree with.
My alternative to Comcast and AT&T is dial-up.
Ever try using FR with Dial-up? I did (back in 1998) and it was painful. Looking at any "content rich" website with graphics, etc.. via dialup is an exercise in futility.
So which do you choose --- AT&T or Comcast for high speed internet? (Satellite IS NOT an option at $100+ for sub DSL speed either.)
It's just an example of what I was talking about. Sometimes there are no alternatives. At that point, one chooses the "least evil" and most cost effective option for them and moves on.
Good though provoking post Norm. Happy Sunday to you.
You are right. If there truly is no other option then you are either going to have to go that route or do without.
The thing is, how many of us are really faced with no options across the range of our purchases? How many of us will buy that Jeep and get that cable /net package deal from Comcast when there ARE other options available...just because they ‘want’ to...then come here and elsewhere bitching up a storm that lesbians ate their Buick?
I’d guess a lot. Because for all the Harumph!’ing many are hyperpatriots until their own ox gets gored.
The core of my argument is that we can do a hell of a lot more than we do in our private lives. Stuck with Comcast?
Buy a Ford instead of a Chrysler/GM. Do SOMETHING regularly and significantly to deprive the left of cash. None of us are able to be perfect. But just on basic terms, wouldn’t we rather our cash fund either conservatives or even the neutral first? Even at some inconvenience to ourselves?
If most of us would, then we can make a difference.
Good Sunday to you as well!
