Obama Plan Encourages College Admissions to Discriminate Against Families Earning $60,000+

(CNSNews.com) - President Barack Obama’s college reform plan, released by the White House on Thursday, would encourage colleges to discriminate against applicants who come from families with total incomes of $60,000 or more by awarding colleges higher federal ratings and increased federal aid for admitting a higher “percentage” of students who receive federal Pell Grants, which the Department of Education says are for "low-income" students.

According to a study by the Congressional Research Service, in the 2007-2008 school year, only 2.3 percent of undergraduates who were still dependent on their parents, and whose total family income was $60,000 or more, received Federal Pell Grants.

According to the College Board, in the 2010-2011 school year, only 5 percent of all Pell Grants were distributed to dependent students whose total family income was $60,000 or more. - See more at: http://cnsnews.com/news/article/obama-plan-encourages-college-admissions-discriminate-against-families-earning-60000#sthash.GJIqdUJl.dpuf

Well of course it does. Did you expect anything different?

Division, envy, greed, fear.

Nothing but doom, despair and decline can happen in this nation so long as he and his cronies are present. A plague has been let in the house. Fire may be the only thing that cleanses it.

$60K is a pretty low bar.

Oh excellent plan. Let’s bar the best, brightest, and most accomplished from an education. That way, the country will have fewer good doctors, inventors, statesmen (we have any of those left?), professors, scientists.

Very interesting that he picks $60,000. That's about what you have to earn to live a lifestyle similar to a family on the government teat getting all the programs they are eligible to get.

But I wonder. After years of hustle and hard work, I finally made it to that magic number. And I still find myself standing behind jag-offs paying with EBT cards in the super market line buying food that I can't afford and driving away in cars that I can't afford.

Anytime Obama has a plan you have to look for the Nuances which screw over the more productive citizens and gives entitlements to the loads of this country.

Do you think so? Why would you ever think that? I mean, we’re all equal aren’t we?

Not when more than 40% make less than $30,000 a year.

I don’t really think it will make any difference. There is too much to be turned around for any one election to matter now.

Some people change when they see the light others won’t change until they feel the heat.

So two parent families get discriminated against, if they play by the rules.

Law of unintended consequences.

Or maybe very intentional.

This is doubly insane when you consider that a family of four who rides the welfare train has an after tax equivalent in benefits of close to $60k.

Remember when the Administration defined threshold for “rich” was $250K, and then $150K? Now it’s almost any wage that yields as much as family welfare. Cloward-Piven, here we come.

Is it beyond government’s comprehension that the children of successful people are themselves more likely to be successful both in college and after?
