Young and healthy Coloradans will see a considerable spike in health care insurance costs just to buy basic coverage when President Barack Obamas signature law goes into effect.
A no-frills plan for a 27-year-old would cost $135 a month through the states new insurance exchange, a 140 percent increase over what they would pay for the least expensive plan on the current market at $56, The Hill reports.
Colorado was singled out by the Washington newspaper as an example of the higher costs healthy non-smokers will pay and is based a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report detailing state-by-state costs.
Colorado Republican Rep. Cory Gardner told the Colorado Observer the GAO report is extremely concerning and that Obamacare should be dismantled and replaced in its entirety.
When Obamacare was being debated in Congress, the biggest promise the laws supporters made was that it would lower healthcare premiums for all Americans; unfortunately this promise is continually being broken, Gardner said.
With just six weeks until the health insurance exchanges are set to open, more alarming news about Obamacares effects on everyday Coloradans is coming to light almost daily, Gardner said.
The success of Obamacare hinges on the willingness of younger Americans, more than one-third of the population, to buy into the costly plan in order to pay for health coverage of individuals with pre-existing conditions.

Good.
This is made to order for Republicans to campaign on but they’re just too stupid and gutless to do it. They might hurt Barry’s feelings.
They better move their asses at any rate because the Dems are going to blame them for it at every turn.
No insurance or health care plan can function unless the costs incurred by
the older people who have lots of health problems are shifted onto the
younger payers who have few health issues and thus cost less.
The ONLY fair system is the same system as restaurants use....
if you can afford it you can have whatever you choose. If you can’t
pay you get NOTHING. Any other system is a form of robbery to
some extent.
The success of Obamacare hinges on the willingness of younger Americans, more than one-third of the population, to buy into the costly plan in order to pay for health coverage of individuals with pre-existing conditions.
In somewhat simpler terms: from each according to his means, to each according to his needs.
In still simpler terms: stick 'em up, fool!
I bet the fine is looking better and better every day to many Americans.

I agree whole heartedly but, unfortunately, people can no longer choose whatever they can afford and more importantly what fits their own personal health needs.
Had a pretty heated discussion with one of my older neighbors recently about Obamacare. She said, “Well, we supported them for the first 20 or so years of their lives, now it’s their turn to support us.” Makes my head hurt!
That’s good. They are part of the bastards that put Obama in the White House x2. the more they have to pay ,as far as I am concerned, the better. And that goes for the youth of the other 49 States.
Among the many flawed assumptions here is that we need to transfer wealth from the young to the old.
Well thanks to 40 years of liberal policies the young aren’t generating any wealth.
This is a simple issue to resolve for Colorado’s younger citizens: don’t buy insurance until you get sick and need it.
In the mean time, avoid paying the penalty by always under withholding your income tax payments as Congress provided no mechanism to collect the penalty other than the IRS keeping any income tax refund due to the taxpayer at the end of the year. In other words, make sure you always have to pay at least a little bit of your tax at the time you file.
We're glad you're concerned.
That was the whole point of the individual mandate, after all.
