New York is number one again, but this time its for being the rudest and most arrogant state in the country.
A new survey from Business Insider asked 1,600 Americans to answer questions about states they dont live in, like which were the drunkest, the smartest or had the silliest accents.
The results were hilarious, informative and tell you everything you need to know about the dynamic between the states, Business Insider said on its website.
It found that 39 percent of those polled felt New York was the most arrogant state and 44 percent felt it was the rudest.
Georgia and Minnesota tied for nicest. Louisiana was judged as the drunkest state and Massachusetts took first place for weirdest accents, followed close behind by Louisiana, Alabama, Minnesota, New York and New Jersey.
Americans think New York has the second-smartest people after Massachusetts.
The poll found California was Americas favorite state and Texas was the one most would like to see kicked out of the country.

Was that drawn by Jackie Gleason? He is supposed to have said, “If you spend the night anywhere but NYC, you’re camping.”
Well, from the remaining 57 States: “Zombie fatso Jackie Gleason can rise up and **** himself.”
I hate “studies” like this and the headlines they generate. It’s impossible to lump an entire dynamic state into one “personality.” Certainly New York City is what they are talking about in this one, but I know from experience that the rural border counties of upstate New York are friendly average people similar to Midwesterners. California, Texas, Indiana — any state with distinct populated regions is going to have the same problem when someone tries to characterize the people in all of their disparate regions as one.
Freepers I’ve met from the Tri-State Chapter (NY NJ CT) are some of the most intelligent and interesting folks you could encounter.
It’s not NY per say. It’s wherever liberals dominate. Boston is nasty. Burlington, VT is filled with arrogance. Austin, TX (in the city) isn’t Texas. It’s NY because of it’s liberals. I’ve lived in all of these cities and have relatives and friends in them. There’s a feeling of being unwelcome in them.
Not just Memphis but anywhere from Tennessee to the Gulf.
Ditto NC
LOL, I can tell how smart New York City people are by the fact that an admitted and continued pervert was front-runner in their mayoral race.
I get the same thing. i grew up on Long Island so, of course people here in MA. ,where I now live, say Long G-island . Sorry folks that’s not what we say.
I also beg to differ with the survey. Having lived in many states on the east coast and Ohio, I’ll take a New Yorker every time. You want arrogant, move to MA..
I worked in NYC for 5 years. I thought the phrase “Go F ya’seff” was their way of saying hello.
Communis Massachusetts is believed to have the second smartest group of people in the nation? Maybe that is the problem — the hubris of the people of Massachusetts. No people — however smart — can go against the laws of classical eonomics and ignore human nature (as Marx and Mao do) can make a society work and have a decent standard of living. Japan is smarter than we are and they have failed in their adoption of Socialism.
I’ve lived in New Jersey and NY, and have been in NYC a thousand times.
I’m a native of NC, a state overrun with Yankees from NJ and NY.
We get only losers here, who failed in their home states (or Florida—and are here for their third failure in life), and their behavior gives both states a bad name.
The natives who stay home, I found to be extremely nice people, if a little hard on the ears.
And the “rudeness” of NY’ers is briskness; they’re always in a hurry.
How’d they outdo Maryland?
Everyone knows Minnesota is mostly Somalian, Ukrainian, and Hmong.
As a NYer, I just wanted to say “F*** y’all” to confirm the stereotype. Kidding...I kid. I would say that Upper West Side Liberals are truly rude but the rest of us aren’t so bad and the folks upstate are downright nice.
But looking at that map, and having spent a month in Alaska, I have to seriously question the “worst food” choice.
Had to think about that for a moment and I guess I would say on line. I also say cawfee. Unlike most people here in the Boston area ,I say picture not pitchah.
Yep. Many NYers who venture down here to Virginia tend to have that “you’re-doing-it-all-wrong-here” attitude.
My attitude is, “go back to NY and show us how we’re wrong.”
I agree 100% I knew heard it pronounced “Joisey” till I left the state
And based upon the link to all the results, South Dakota is apparently the most forgotten state.
