I no longer post on WBTS threads except in general. There are two or three posters who nearly always show up and simply lie through their teeth. I don’t mean little lies either.

They make up some which are so ridiculous as to be amusing and yes I am sure they can find somewhere on the internet where someone else said these things are true.

Anyway it is pointless to try and debate people who are without honor. There used to be a couple of others years ago but someone finally outed them as Bill Clinton supporters and they eventually quit posting.

We all make mistakes and that is not a problem. You simply point it out and the person admits he has made one. That is not what is happening in these typical posts.

"Bitterly Divided" is a book to read that does an energetic job of bursting the "Lost Cause Myth" concerning a united south. I think Southeners would do well to at least look at the historical evidence before dismissng historical revisions as ridiculous. A case can be made and this man makes it.

I haven’t been posting so much lately either.

Dishonorable traitors should be disowned, not venerated. To venerate traitors is dishonorable, but they may indeed have done things honorable besides their dishonorable deeds. One can appreciate their good deeds.

But lying about them, asserting that their disnonor was honor and that their evil was virtue, well that compounds their sins with confounding error of the people who lie trying to hide the evil and sin.

Lies are the tribute vice must pay to virtue. One can’t be proud of an ancestor because of his penchant for rape, and his use of legal loopholes to get away with it, so there is a powerful incentive to lie, even to oneself, that the rapes may never have happened, or wasn’t legally documented, or the evidence has been carefully hidden and therefore it perhaps didn’t occur. Such a lie blackens the soul of those who tell it.
