Matthews was also moved by the fact that in military prison, Manning will be surrounded by people "who won't like him." There are very few prisons where he would be popular.

I had the same thought. From what I’ve heard the % of lesbians in the military, even before DADT and its removal, was substantially higher than in the general population. I don’t know if that’s as true in the officers’ corps as enlisted.
