MaCain was never a good candidate. GWB and Mitt were at least qualified through successful governoships &/or business experience.
The conservative ideology of any candidate is still the best measure of a candidate’s worth. We need to insist on a candidate who not only believes in conservatism but who is willing to go out and promote good old fashioned American priciples: liberty & justice for all; justice is blind; Big government must be tamed and reduced; taxes must be fair; wealth belongs first to the worker who earned it. First and second amendments are not debatable; religious liberty and free speech go together under the First Amendment; The right to own and bear arms pertains to individual liberty and not to any government militia. The economy must be free to practice capitalism, promoting excellence and entrepreneurs, etc.
I could go on, but you get my point.
We seem to have a media-driven system of selecting presidential candidates that seems designed to winnow out any really qualified person.

I have an idiot neighbor who thinks hillary is so wonderful. She can’t wait to vote for her because, well, she’s great — at what, I have no idea.
By the same token, when you consider those Republicans who ran in the primaries, and lost, it’s not so baffling after all.

Paglia is right from a logical standpoint. But this isn’t about logic. It’s about having an all powerful national government with a permanent ruling class. Hillary most likely will win considering how bad the GOP is at nominating their own ruling class representatives.

Because the low information voters could give a hoot about her record or past. She is a true believing progressive woman and deserves to be at the top of the ticket.

Exactly! Hillary Clinton is the biggest screwup ever. Other than her skillful lying under oath what has she ever done that wasn't turned into a huge flustercluck?
Agree, and especially becuase she has none of Bill's charisma and political skill (I couldn't stand the guy, but he did have political skill).
For some reason, my money is on the Castro guy from TX that spoke at last year's Rat convention.
Cuomo will be as popular in the west and mid-west as a boxcar full of cattle with mad cow disease. Christie has the same problem.

Her ultimate goal has always been the Oval Office. When her legal career was thwarted after Watergate, she married into power, using William the Impeached as a stepping stone. Her boast of being “Co-President” was not idle hubris.
She then used the NY Senate seat as another springboard to power but was foiled again, this time by the Chicago Machine, who had already chosen Odinga to carry the party banner.
Examine her personality. She has the need to dominate. It’s not enough that her subjects obey her commands; they must be forced to obey against their will, or the needed gratification is not derived.
She is a compulsive liar. She is a consummate fraud. She is most likely a lesbian with a deep-seeded hatred of the men who, in her mind, deny her her rightful place in history. Never again must she be allowed to approach the levers of authority, for that day will spell the doom of the Republic.
Everyone should memorize what you've said about Hillary in that post and realize that it's a smack dead center bullseye of a critique.
Democratic Party = “Vote for the most entertaining candidate!”
Paglia now knows what it feels like to be a Republican (Dole, McCain, Romney...)
