Can you explain why you want to use big government to force businesses to pay no skill workers a living wage.
Adjusted for inflation min. wage would be at $12.00/hr. Why could businesses afford that in 1974 but not now?
Businesses shouldn’t be forced to do anything. The free market should decide their worth. If you want to start a fast food chain paying 12 dollars an hour, have at it.

Yes, in high school and beginning of my college career. Most jobs with minimum wage are designed for high schoolers/kids in colleges.
I don’t feel sorry for people who never developed a skill set and are now stuck working a minimum wage job, demanding that their employers pay them 15 dollars an hour.

You realize there’s people graduating college who are only making 15 dollars an hour upon graduation. So the burger flippers, with no skills, should be making the same amount?
And yes, if you can make the equivalent of 60k while living off welfare, you are basically stealing a middle class lifestyle.
You can’t have it both ways, in 1974 I worked for minimum wage which was $2.00/hr at the time. So adjusted for inflation that would be $12.00/hr today. So at $2.00/hr was I making “too much” then per hour in 1974? Is that what you are saying to me?
That assumes wages have kept up with inflation. They haven't.
So say it, I was making way too much at 2.00/hr in 1974 compared to today. Say it to my face.
Hah! Interesting point! The other thing is that the single parents among them will lose free health (although it will probably still be heavily supplemented) for their kids. ALso, food stamps will be significantly reduced.
We have the lowest import tariffs in the history of the USA.
We have the lowest minimum wage(adjusted for inflation) since its inception.
We have income taxes that are not the highest in history but still high.
We have the longest period of high unemployment since the great depression.
We have high inflation despite the regimes propaganda to the contrary.
It is not working people.
Also, adjust the taxes and the entitlements as compared to the seventies. I think you'll find minimum wage workers doing even better than they were back then. Today's minimum wage workers pay virtually no taxes, including social security.
It’s not that you were making too much in 1974, it’s that employers made more profit back then, and could pay you $2.00/hr.
Taxes and regulations make that (inflation adjusted) wage impossible today.

I believe in work, and the minimum wage is a no brainer. If Republicans want to be on the losing side of an issue then this is a big one. Seal the borders, and let min wage keep up with inflation. Nothing wrong with that. If that is controversial then so be it.
