He's a Canadian citizen if the government of Canada recognizes him as one and my understanding of their citizenship laws (which are quite similar to ours) says that he is.I know something about "dual citizenship" having done some reading on the subject. For example,I've recently found that my Dad,and his siblings, were all citizens of Ireland because their mother was born there and in spite of the fact that they were all born in the US.I also found out that *I*,as well as my siblings, are all *entitled* to Irish citizenship because our father was one when we were born.

All *civilized* countries have a mechanism by which a person can formally, legally, renounce his/her citizenship if they wish.Canada would surely have such a law.If Ted Cruz wants to be president he'd be wise to renounce his Canadian citizenship...not because there's anything wrong with Canada...but because some might fear, with or without justification, that his loyalties as President might be clouded in certain situations (like when Congress declares war on Canada).

If he is a DUAL CITIZEN by birth, that probably disqualifies him from the presidency based on Section 1 of Article Two of the United States Constitution.
