What I knew about African-Americans ("negroes" they were called then when people wanted to be polite; much worse when they did not) was limited to my experience with two maids employed by my parents during my childhood and years playing college basketball. The 'negro' terminology has been dropped. Can we please drop this ridiculous African-American moniker too?

One wonders what Dr. King might think of racial progress today.I think Dr King would be ashamed of his acolytes Jesse Jackson and Andrew Young and Julian Bond.

Cal Thomas is getting mushy in his old age, IMO.
Thomas pooh-poohs the concept of MLK as a “communist” when just a little reading and research will reveal the Red seeds in his movement that gave rise to The One.
There have been no “advances in strong black families” since The Dream speech, it’s all been backing up since that time. Real economic empowerment is tied to real jobs but government aid has turned that on its head, along with the lack of real fathers in the homes. And it was done in the name of political expediency and votes.

Remember this:
" I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying,
How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies?yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;Which thinkto cause my people to forget my name by their dreamswhich they tell every man to his neighbouras their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.
The prophet that hath a dream, and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully.
What is the chaff to the wheat?
