Hope I'm not duplicating. I tried to do a search, but FR has been acting hinkey for the last two days. Don't know if it's FR's problem, my ISP, or Firefox.

Loved Bloomberg's comment about North Carolina and South Carolina: "“New York is the safest big city in the nation, but year after year, illegal guns flow into our city from states that don’t have common-sense laws that keep guns out of the hands of criminals,” said Mayor Bloomberg." http://www.nyc.gov/html/om/html/2013b/pr280-13.html

The men were captured in a police sting that netted 254 weapons in 45 transactions since last year

The guns sold for $160,000 according to the 552 count indictment.

$630 per gun...

If they had smuggled cigarettes into NY City, they would be facing the death penalty.

I’m trying to figure out how an American can be arrested for selling legal merchandise.

Blows my mind.

The NY Times article said the guns were often stolen. North and South Carolina really should pass a law making stealing guns illegal.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/20/nyregion/gun-seizure-exposes-pipeline-from-south.html

"A lot of firepower,” Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg mused as he paused to look at some of the 254 guns — large-caliber pistols and military-grade weapons modified to improve aim and avoid detection — that were bought by the police during the yearlong undercover investigation."

BTW, what, exactly are "large-caliber pistols and military-grade weapons modified to improve aim and avoid detection", and where can I buy some like that?

Are they searching every car going into NYC nowadays, or what?

254 guns. You could collect that many from a single city block in any Rocky Mtn state.

North Carolina is safer than New Yawk City and has been for years. Shouldn’t it be the other way around if these guns came from Wild West North Carolina?

NY Post (alleged to be New Yorks' conservative newspaper!):

"The haul included military-grade machine guns with silencers as large as the weapons themselves and Soviet-era assault rifles with flash and smoke suppressors."

"The arsenal’s most powerful weapons — .45-caliber handguns — “could kill an elephant,” said a law-enforcement source."

"The arms were initially bought for $200 to $300 a pop through two networks — one in South Carolina and the other in North Carolina, states where gun laws are notoriously weak, officials said."

"About three dozen of the weapons had been stolen down South. Most were peddled fully loaded."

Again, I didn't know that stealing guns was legal in the South....

Funny Bloombutt does not mention NYC being the cause of demand of manufacture of crack cocaine... or the cause of exportation of CRIME GUNS AND CRIME into other states.

That piece of garbage needs a reality check from his picked selective statistics.

How long before we find out that the police created this “crime” to demonstrate how unenlightened places need “common sense laws”?
