Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) announced Monday evening that he will renounce his Canadian citizenship, less than 24 hours after a newspaper pointed out that the Canadian-born senator likely maintains dual citizenship.
Now the Dallas Morning News says that I may technically have dual citizenship, Cruz said in a statement. Assuming that is true, then sure, I will renounce any Canadian citizenship. Nothing against Canada, but Im an American by birth and as a U.S. senator; I believe I should be only an American.
SNIP
Because I was a U.S. citizen at birth, because I left Calgary when I was 4 and have lived my entire life since then in the U.S., and because I have never taken affirmative steps to claim Canadian citizenship, I assumed that was the end of the matter, Cruz said.

So I guess that whatever chance he had of a career in the NHL is now out of the question.
He is absolutely not naturalized. He is a U.S. citizen because his mother was a U.S. citizen, thus a natural born citizen.
Naturalized means he had no claim on U.S. citizenship at birth either by parent or place of birth and went through the lengthy process to become an American.
Why? so we can run some Yo Yo?
Who is the 45th? Actually, since Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive terms, I don’t think we’ve had 44.
Who is the 45th?
Actually I forgot that Obama is “44”....Ugh. I wish I could forget him completely and I wake up tomorrow to find I was having this big time comedic dream.

Oh please do not tell me that for the first time since 2005, we are going to disagree about a possible candidate. First of all he is a one term Senator (he has been in his seat for a whole 8 months) who was not born in the United States......
The first Congress and President Washington opened that door with the Naturalization Act of 1790: "And the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens"
And in that 8 months he has pissed off ALL THE RIGHT PEOPLE.
It wont be 8 months on 2016 ;)
Still doesn’t make him elligible to be president
Oh, just in time.
Not.
Talk about locking the barn door after the horse has been stolen.
I will be concerned about Cruz’s eligibility when Soetoro is in prison, and not otherwise.
Wow, the standard is now Obama? At least we have one party that still supports American being governed by Americans.
You mean the birth certificate he found among his mother’s belongings upon her death???
Seemed pretty important for him to reminice about in his book.
And in that 8 months he has pissed off ALL THE RIGHT PEOPLE.
He is good at that. The only worry I have besides the whole birth thing (which in the general would not be an issue for me and I would RUN to the polling place to vote for him) is that we have had so many “perfect and popular” conservatives who were our “go to guy” for the Presidency only to be extremely disappointed in the person later. Not sure if this will be the case, but we have seen a ton of good people on their best behavior for the first years in office only to do a 180 soon after.
Obama is president for 2 terms, like it or not.
Why cut off Cruz’s ****?
Because I was a U.S. citizen at birth, .. “
Evidence?
How old was your mother when she gave birth? How long did she live in the United States? Did she meet the requirements AT THE TIME to confer citizenship to a baby born on foreign territory to a non-citizen daddy? If not, when were you naturalized?
And unfortunately for you being born outside the geographic United States sovereign boundary you fail Article II, Sec. 1 of Constitution in regards to unique Natural Born Citizenship requirement for Presidency.
Of course you probably didn’t know that right?

They will all disappoint to some degree, especially in a general election.
I like the cut of this guys jib, he never gets rattled, he sticks to his guns without being offensive.
Perfect for a general election.
He is not naturalized.
His citizenship is based on bloodline. He’s the child of a US citizen, so he was automatically a citizen at birth.
