In Houston Texas a middle-aged black woman named Mona Nelson kidnapped a 12-year-old white boy from his home on Christmas Eve 2010. She tied him up with string, then burned him with a blowtorch, and dumped his body in a ditch.
Nelsons bench trial began last week no jury (per her request).
The reporting on this story is scant at best, mostly local, and poorly done. The latest article about the trial is a testament to such horrid journalism SEE HERE
The prosecution lost the affirmative eye witness lineup as evidence because Mona Nelson looked so masculine the police could not find similar looking females.
Initially, because of her physique and appearance, the eye-witness thought she was a man. Against the backdrop of five additional females in a line-up looking like women, Nelson stood out like the brutal killer she is.
The judge has thrown out the line-up as evidence.
The defense asked the detective (who conducted the line-up) if he should have considered using men. The detective agreed it might have been something to consider.
When the defense followed up and said: why didnt you? The detective responded, I cant imagine my position in this courtroom today if wed have put five men in that lineup.

Damn, that's funny!
For completeness, here is the first post I could find with g**gle.
It ain’t true until a blogger named Sundance reports it.
Articles on this here may be found under Key Word: “Mona Nelson” or “monanelson”.
Several have been posted.
Nothing since the grand jury indictment in May.
Very interesting comparison to the Zimmerman trial. She claimed he was beating on her windows after a minor accident and so she pulled her weapon and killed him. Witnesses mostly testified against her, one supported her story. Not arrested, now a grand jury indicts her.
This black vs. white crime has few trails on the web.
Stay on the thread topic and stop your continual bitching about blogs.
Oh, Yes Sir! Right Away, Sir!
I'll get right on that and see to it!
At any rate, if she is found guilty, I hope she never sees the light of day ever again.
Is this THE Chesty Puller?
Houston Suspect May Be Serial Killer
By Charles Montaldo, About.com Guide January 13, 2011
The 44-year-old woman accused in the death of 12-year-old Jonathan Foster is a cold-blooded predator who may have other victims, according to homicide detectives. Mona Yvette Nelson has admitted to dumping Foster's badly burned body in a ditch near the Houston airport, but insists that she did not kill the boy.She has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with his death.
"I was one of the detectives to interview Mona Nelson, and I can tell you that she is a cold, soulless murderer who showed an absolute lack of remorse in taking the life of Jonathan Foster," Houston Homicide Det. Michael Miller told reporters. "There are few cases that impact homicide detectives in this manner, but this is one of them."
Body Dumped in a Ditch
Nelson told investigators that one of Foster's family members paid her $20 to get rid of a plastic container. She said she put the container in a ditch without looking inside. The problem, detectives said, is that Foster's body was not in any kind of container when it was found in the ditch.
Nelson told television reporters that she could not have killed Foster because she is a grandmother who loves children. "I'm not a monster," she told KTRK. "I have five grand kids and I love kids."
But investigators said evidence found at Nelson's home tell a different story.
"Once we arrived at her house, we stumbled into a wealth of evidence - evidence that showed that Jonathan's body was burned at the residence. Evidence that showed, perhaps, the items that he was burned with. Evidence that had us fairly shaken up in collecting it," Miller said.
Suspect Acted Alone, Police Said
In statements to police, Nelson tried to point the finger at others, but investigators believe she alone was involved.
"She acted alone in this crime of her own disregard for human life. She decided to take Jonathan Foster out of our world," Miller said. "I've worked in the homicide division for 14 years and this is the worst case that I've been a part of. An innocent 12-year-old boy who was described by all as happy, outgoing and well-liked in the neighborhood - certainly, it's an absolute tragedy."
Det. Miller said Foster may not be Nelson's only victim.
"Do I believe she's done it before? Yeah, I do. I don't believe she began and ended with the abduction of Jonathan Foster, I don't," Miller said.
Abducted, Killed the Same Day
Jonathan Foster was reported missing by his mother on Christmas Eve after his mother called home to check on the boy and a strange woman with a raspy voice answered the phone. She rushed home and Jonathan was gone. She immediately notified police that he was missing.
Police initially filed the case as a missing child. It wasn't classified an abduction until the following Monday, Dec. 27. It was only then that an Amber Alter was issued. His body was found Monday, but not identified until Tuesday.
Investigators now believe Jonathan was abducted, killed, burned and dumped all on the same day.

Most of the media here in Texas, like most of the U.S.ofA. is owned and/or controlled by libalerals (misspelled on purpose) out of the N.E., Chicago or the west coast.
I posted the articles on this shooting here under Key Word “Crystal Scott” or “Jonathan Ables”.
But there has been nothing since the Grand Jury Indictment in March and nothing on her court arraignment, though I was told that her trial is scheduled for October or November.
This is another case of black on white cold blooded murder that the media is trying to conceal and the NAACP is trying to distort.
What kind of poor, lowlife, perverted POS would have the total lack of self-esteem to steal my identity?
Bastards better NOT.
Line up evidence is so poor quality there has been serious consideration to discontinue it entirely. It rates even lower than lie detector tests in its accuracy.
Even if there is a clearly positive ID, much of the time it is either because the line up was done improperly; or the witness knows the suspect but is pretending they don’t.
