To: Alas Babylon!
... and yet, 16 years later, I see it all tearing away like a pi$$-soaked paper bag.

Isn't that the truth!

I was 17 years old when I raised my right hand and proudly donned a uniform. That was in 1961, and the wonderful '50s and Eisenhower were still fresh memories. Of course, we had the Communists, the Cold War, and Castro, and Khrushchev banging his shoe at the UN, and Vietnam and the Hippies and Beatles were still ahead of us. But so was Reagan and the Roaring '80s!

When I finally proudly hung up that uniform for the final time in 1998, we had gone from I LIKE IKE all the way downhill past the fiendish LBJ and the feckless Jimmah Chahtah to the shameless Clintoons and Monica and Johnny Chung. I thought, surely we could go no lower. The only way left was "up", and finally most of us would see and agree, right? How wrong I was.

Like you, I miss the old America - what we were, what we stood for, what we valued, how we were always the First and the Best, and how the American Dream was not just a dream but a reality even if an imperfect one. But if it not too late, we may yet live to see another Reagan and cheer this great country on once again...?

out there in the swampland of Post Modern America there IS a young lad busily doing everything he does to the best of his abilities.

He will soon focus on the need to see this Nation once again become the land our Forefathers Fought For.

He will be “another Reagan”.
