How a person dresses and conducts his/herself (not necessarily race) can be the reason a cabbie selects a certain passenger over another, or who store security presumes is the shoplifter.

Those are factors but you can't deny race is also one.

When not on business, I typically dress waaay down and have
seen better dressed black people discriminated right next to me.

Again, I have personally experienced it during my dark days. One time I was waiting outside and someone assumed I was an illegal laborer looking for work. Things like that never happen when I'm white. I was the same person with the same clothes.
