Racism may be a quality innate to humanity, with ostensibly smarter people simply hiding their racism better than others.

A new study shows that white Americans with greater socioeconomic status — often perceived to be associated with greater intelligence and sophistication — espouse more egalitarian ideals compared to their lower echelon counterparts. But those Americans are just as likely to support the preservation of social and economic privilege, by rejecting fair housing and other policies relating to racial integration.

Wodtke, a sociology doctoral candidate, analyzed data on racial attitudes from more than 20,000 white Americans participating in the nationally representative General Social Survey. The average study participant was calculated to be a 47-year-old white person who completed 12.9 years of education, answering six of 10 cognitive ability test questions correctly.

"In modern America, where blacks are mobilized to challenge racial inequality, this means that intelligent whites say — and may in fact truly believe — all the right things about racial equality in principle, but they just don't actually do anything that would eliminate the privileges to which they have become accustomed.

My research is in the areas of neighborhood effects and urban poverty, group conflict and racial attitudes, class structure and income inequality, and methods of causal inference in observational research. My dissertation examines the link between class structure, defined in terms of property and authority relations in production, and growing aggregate income inequality in America since the early 1980s. I’m also currently working on several projects dealing with the impact of neighborhood poverty on child development and the association between cognitive ability and racial attitudes among white Americans. My previous research on these topics has been published in American Sociological Review, Demography, and Social Psychology Quarterly.

So in short - if you oppose: Obamacare, Amnesty, Entitlement Reform, etc... you are a racist. Even if you are a lib who supports every tax loving program ever created by the govt you are still a racist but don't know it. In fact, if you are simply white you are a racist, period.

So, no matter what one actually believes the bar has been suddenly moved to "if you're not actively advocating and doing something about racism, you're a racist.

This is why some, perhaps a large segment of the black population will never mainstream or achieve success in America: They've been successfully conditioned by decades of Democrat social-engineering policy that unless someone "helps them" they'll never make it on their own.

Just plain pitiful. Proof that Government policy does in fact destroy the human spirit.

Something is wrong with their data set samples. “Smarter white people” would not participate in a survey setup to falsely “prove” a thereom consisting of questions that are intentionally skewed and geared to make one come to a conlusion that the author wants to portray. Most polls today are setup to manipulate the public’s opinions using bandwagon mentality. Obama is an expert at it.

References to income inequality are irrelevant. How can one quantify money and goods obtained by theft, illegal commerce, extortion, or other means? People without visible sources of income may just be better at hiding it.

I looked for a link to the original study, or at least to a more competent writeup, but I didn't see one. The Medical Daily story is pretty sketchy. Perhaps I overlooked something.

But it's interesting that Wodtke did not hesitate to score the white population for "cognitive ability" based on a ten question pop quiz. (Wouldn't want to resort to a real IQ test, I'm sure ... IQ testing being racist, etc.)

So, I wonder if he bothered to test for cognitive ability in black, Hispanic, and Asian populations, and to consider the possibility that much of the stratification in economic outcomes is linked to mental ability, education, and the resulting different professional pathways.

It would also be interesting to learn what policy preferences Wodtke deems as operationally racist. Much of modern liberalism implicitly assumes inherent black and Hispanic inferiority, but somehow I don't imagine that is what Wodtke has in his crosshairs.

The underlying study would be interesting. Wodtke is dancing around the race and IQ issue from an apparently leftist perspective. One wonders if he has the intellectual clarity to recognize the issues involved.

So... this kid made up a survey about a whole bunch of liberal policies and classified people as racist if they don’t support those policies. I wonder if he considered for even one second that people can oppose liberal utopian pipe dreams and not be racist.

The people I would classify as racist are those who think that you have to keep black people on the liberal plantation and “take care” of them like livestock—in other words, just about anyone who supports Democrat policies vis-à-vis the poor.

I have yet to see a poll wiithout a political agenda or setup to sell something in this day and age. Opinion is not as powerful as facts and even then you have to question the source and its credibility more than ever now.

Looks like he’s getting the attention he wanted by publishing outright lies. With the posting on here and subsequent comments (including mine), he gets more notoriety which he richly does not deserve.
