White Catholics voted 59-40 percent for Mitt Romney — more than for any other Republican nominee in history except possibly Warren G. Harding. White Catholic turnout was down compared to 2008, but the loss was all on the Democratic side. Romney carried this group by 4.4 million votes, almost quadruple McCain’s margin.Seems I've heard a lot of Catholic-bashing ("they elected Obama", "Catholics voted overwhelmingly for Obama", etc.) around FR lately. Looks like the statement needs to be revised to "Non-White Catholics"... which is no surprise to anyone without an axe to grind...

There is another book which covers the same topic called “Congressional Quarterly’s Politics in America” which makes interesting reading.
