Debate's Biggest Loser? Chris Wallace and Fox (2011 advocating Levin et al as moderators!!!)
American Thinker ^ | August 2011 | C. Edmund Wright

(snip).....Perhaps it is time to totally rethink some debate assumptions, at least from the party standpoint during the primary process. The Jurassic media is really not a necessary ingredient in this process in this day of the new media and the social media. Engaged primary voters, who are the entire ballgame at this juncture, are easily able to follow the candidates through talk radio and the internet -- including the social media. In other words, there likely are not legions of Republican primary voter in the country who care a whit what Chris Wallace thinks. After last night, many will not be particularly interested in what Bret Baier or Byron York think either. Neither the candidates nor the voters need these people, and if they are not going to add anything to the process, they should be jettisoned. Why not have folks like say, Mark Levin and Andrew Breitbart and Ann Coulter ask the questions?......

There are a million ways to handle a debate without liberal democrat moderators.

eg. have the participants put 10 questions into a hat and draw them out at random, and talk about them.

Never made sense to let only Democrats frame the issues at every debate, whether it is GOP primary, DNC primary, or general election.

That is true....and they’re all better than liberal media mods.

The point here was being two years ahead of curve....

I'd LOVE for Breitbart to ask ANY question!

This is going on the false premise that the leaders and decision makers of the Republican Party are conservative.

Personally, I think the TELEVISED debates are less than a joke. Consider: How would a man as homely as Abraham Lincoln, with his squeaky voice, fare in today’s media. Or Washington with his bad teeth. What about FDR, confined to a wheelchair in today’s climate? Than there is that morbidly obese (FAT) president who would make a fine figure on a TV set. (I forget his name)
If you want to win a political debate, go to the prison of your choice, select a tall, handsome con artist who has the voice of a Charlton Heston, dress him up and rehearse him and he will walk away with the debate.
I have avoided debates since the biggest issue of the Kennedy/Nixon debates turned out to be Nixon’s bad makeup and dark appearing 5 o’clock shadow.

TV is part of society now....to my knowledge, was not in Abe’s day.

Reality is what it is.......and we must deal with it.

Mark Levin should not only moderate....he should run!

Think its crazy to have a radio guy run? About as crazy as having an actor from the 50’s run. We need this now. We have nobody.

I think he would be awesome in office...but maybe does more for the Republic in his current role.

Why is that crazy? Why does anyone think it takes an (over)education Ivy Leaguer to ‘run the Country’?

Hell, I can’t see, from my copy of the Constitution, where the President has much of a role in the gov’t aside from treaties, dignitaries, signing/veto and enforcing the Law (ok, there are a FEW other things).

Sh!t, just how hard is it to role through a bill, find the first though out of place w/ RE: A1S8 and say “VETO”; otherwise, it’s his/her call?

Yeah, it’s an oversimplification...but the whole position was setup to NOT have another king.

Three cheers for CEW. He nails this.

Really, I’m beginning to think these media types and Party “leaders” are imbeciles who have absolutely no clue. They sit and pontificate about what they think is good for the masses. And what they think is good for the masses just happens to fit tidily into their own little power control boxes.

Yes, people are sick to death of the corrupt MSM types who seem to think that every interview or debate is their golden opportunity to create a moment... for themselves! The way they do this is, of course, by exploding a gotcha trap, just as CEW notes. However, and as we all know, this little parlor game is almost exclusively played on Republicans.

Newsflash, Conservative voters are becoming a powder keg. We are frustrated by incompetent Party types who would sellout their own mothers rather than stick to principle.

We are sick to death of the corruption of the MSM who constantly put their thumbs on the scale of elections to help their liberal love interests.

We are frustrated with Party “leaders” who are absolutely petrified at the mere whiff that someone in D.C. might think them outside of the mainstream (read: moderate/liberal). Mainstream being defined by liberals.

Few Republicans have courage, and the base knows this and sees this as we get sold out on big and small issues over and over again. How many times can the Republicans leaders side with the corrupt MSM and punch us in the nose so they can prove they’re not one of us?

So the pressure is quickly building and one day very soon the political price is going to be paid, and is long overdue.

Guide the nomination process one more time and give us another Dole, McCain, or Romney and millions will walk away — forever. We’ve had it. No more!

Truth be told, George HW Bush and George W Bush are pretty similar to Romney, McCain and Dole. Their only saving grace was that they actually won. We haven’t had a good nominee since Reagan.
