Former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden began downloading documents describing the U.S. government's electronic spying programs while he was working for Dell Inc in April 2012, almost a year earlier than previously reported, according to U.S. officials and other sources familiar with the matter.

I don’t know if I’d call him a patriot but I don’t think he had anything the Russians and Chinese don’t already know.
Sandy Berger was worse in my opinion. He got probation and a seat on the board of the international crisis group.
Not only is Snowden a traitor but he is also a very naïve traitor. Why?
” He did every freedom-loving patriot concerned about our liberties a favor by exposing the Illegal behaviors of this Administration and the NSA. “
Snowden did us a favor, regardless of his person motivations may be.
add a “what” : )
I can’t believe I’m saying this but, “The Industrial Military Complex”, is driven by money as much or more than by defense or ideology.
I really have no interest in conspiracy theories, my interest is in being left alone.
There is very very big money in “DATA” and its analysis.
Traditionally defense contractors have been reactive and provided the technology necessary to complete a mission or need.
These guys are some of the smartest people on the planet and they solve problems like no one else.
When they (the gov’t) run out of “Problems”, it doesn’t change the need of the smart guys to make money. If I ran a drug company I would lobby to have a “condition” re-labeled as a “disease”, only if I had the cure.
I think these “security consultants” are deep in bed with certain established GOP members in order to advance a new concept of “risk” that requires support and of course, funding.
This is very big business.
Sorry. The government employees who knows about these unconstitutional acts and keep their mouths shut are the traitors. Every last one of them.

I agree, but they think they are doing the right thing with their actions and their silence.
It sure shut down all criticism of Waco. Scott Ritter. That French World Bank guy. Assange. Nobody will to listen to an accused sex offender.
I’ll bet a beer that some woman (or man) comes forward and accuses Snowden or Glen Greenwald of a sex offense.
Do we have to choose either patriot or traitor?
I probably would choose d) none of the above.
Probably like most people of this type his reasoning is/was complex and we really don’t know his motivation for sure.
So far AFAICT all he’s divulged has been that the alphabet soup agencies are listening to every phone call, and watching every keystroke. I’m glad he divulged that. Beyond that - we just don’t know.
Yep.
Next up will be cameras everywhere like London.
Not to mention that attacking Snowden's character means nothing against the credibility of the information. He could be a marxist cannibal pedophile quadruple agent embezzler drug pushing terrorist 1%er and it doesn't change the fact that the information released demonstrably and verifiably exposed the Gov't up to no f-ing good, cheating in fact on the laws it's supposed to be following. The gov't actions appear to benefit the establishment of an illegal surveillance regime and police state. For the convenience of violating the laws intended to protect us! Ahh, the banality of evil strikes again.
They can't refute the information, so they attack the man. Every time the administration or it's apologists try to deny the information exposed, another shoe drops. Every time someone attacks Snowden's character, they're just wasting our time. They laugh when we fall for it. SUCKERS!
I called him a patriot in order to needle a little :) We still don't know the whole Snowden story.
Sandy Berger was worse in my opinion. He got probation and a seat on the board of the international crisis group.
I still want to know what papers Berger stole from the Archives. He should have been arrested for treason and if found guilty, executed.
Berger is another in a long line of utterly corrupt, vile, disgusting and immoral politicians.
If anyone wants to know why I don’t believe we have any secrets anymore, just take a look at this list of board members of the International crisis group. Be sure to click the link to Senior advisors at the bottom of the page.

BTW its worth noting that Mohammad ElBaradei who stepped down as interim VP of Egypt yesterday is a former member of the ICG. He stepped down from his position on the board when the uprising against Mubarak began.
It’s as if the missions and activities of “NGO’s” have become privatized, “For-Profit” corporations.
This actually goes really deep.
It’s profiting on the destruction of capitalism.
You're right on that one. Unfortunately our government does. You've got this one backwards. Snowden did us all a great service by exposing it.
