The type of bullet in the deer would give us some clue. If it was a 223 caliber it would seem that cops shot it since they use AR15’s that shoot those rounds.

It’s a sad commentary on the human condition that someone got a perverse kick from the senseless killing of that harmless animal. A**holes.

It’s a shame there are people in this world who don’t understand the value of an animal like that. Of course that person very likely doesn’t place any value on human life either.

Or, at least not very much value.

When I was in junior high, a lady ranger rescued a young deer whose mother was killed by a car, and was given permission to raise it as a mascot. Two or three years later, she was assigned to a lookout tower for the season, and the deer, now a tame buck, was there with her.

Deer season arrived, and a couple of yahoos I'll refuse to call hunters jumped out of a truck, and shot it. It was climbing the outside stairway of the lookout tower on a leash and wearing an orange "vest". She was just a couple of steps ahead of it, about halfway up to the cupola, screaming at them not to shoot.

Forest Service & local deputy caught them on the way down the mountain after she radioed it in. Reckless endangerment, shooting from a road, shooting at an occupied dwelling, maybe a few other charges tossed at them.

Same kind of people that work for the ACLU.

Waste of meat.
Private property (was it posted?).
Not very sporting.

But still, it was just a deer. Grow up people.

Shooting a deer in a cemetery is a lot different from shooting a deer in the woods. This act is a precursor for something worse.

“Shooting a deer in a cemetery is a lot different from shooting a deer in the woods.”

Not so much. Although it is illegal to hunt IN a cemetery in my state, hunting around the edges of a cemetery is great, and is encouraged by the cemetery keepers as deer devastate their plantings.

Did I mention how good deer meat tastes? Mmmmmm. The yearlings are the best.

If deer meat tasted that great, we’d be buying in the stores. The only thing we plant in our cemeteries are rocks with names on them. Someone wanted this deer dead for their own reason. I don’t think this was a hunter.

Yours is the important point. It’s a deer and they taste great. If this were hunting for hunting’s sake fine. But this was deliberate cruelty to the deer, the dog and the community. That’s pathological.
