Murphy was making fun of several things at that time. For some reason back then some venues and clubs were booking groups of which they had no idea what they played. It was almost epidemic. Reggae was so popular the groups were in high demand. Just being a reggae group was almost an automatic booking. Murphy was also making fun of Bob Marley’s living large after reggae took off.

I understand that, but why should Eddie Murphy get a pass, while the rodeo clown gets crucified?
