Businesses claim Obamacare has forced them to cut employee hours [Obama says it's not true]
NBC News ^ | August 13, 2013 | Lisa Myers and Carroll Ann Mears

Employers around the country, from fast-food franchises to colleges, have told NBC News that they will be cutting workers’ hours below 30 a week because they can’t afford to offer the health insurance mandated by the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

The White House dismisses such examples as "anecdotal." Jason Furman, chairman of the president’s Council of Economic Advisors, said, “We are seeing no systematic evidence that the Affordable Care Act is having an adverse impact on job growth or the number of hours employees are working. … [S]ince the ACA became law, nearly 90 percent of the gain in employment has been in full-time positions.”

NBC News spoke with almost 20 small businesses and other entities from Maine to California, and almost all said that because of the new law they’d be cutting back hours for some employees

Let’s see. Obamacare was passed in March 2010 by a rougue congress, signed by our Marxist leader, and NBC News finally is reporting on the law’s impact on jobs and our economy?

Pathetic.

Part-time math professor Tracey Sullivan said she will lose half her income because of the cuts.
"I never thought it would impact me directly,” said Sullivan.

Math professor. Once again, with emphasis, math professor.

Yes, but “full-time employment” for this lying government is now 30 hours, when that used to be part-time employment. Everyone with half a brain knows how these liars figure.

Obvious next move is that companies choosing to do this will get the Gibson Guitar treatment and their executives will be targeted for endless rounds of audits.

Yes, it is anecdotal - and I heard it in an anecdote from my own son, whose hours were cut from 40 to 29.

I think this was a deliberate ploy by Obama to get people angry at their employers and demand even greater governmental involvement in health care. Why else would Obama redefine a full-time job from 40 hours down to 30 hours? To force employers to make severe cuts to employee hours. People can tolerate 40 to 39, but not 40 to 29.

I'm incredibly saddened to hear that so many [liberal] college professors are having their hours sliced and diced as a direct result of the same law that they were so euphoric over not too long ago.
Of course in these dire times,(which were brought on by the same administration these incredibly intelligent people supported so joyously) we should never feel happy about someone else's misfortune (even if they brought it on themselves)

Like I said I feel no joy at so many incredibly stupid people losing a big chunk of their pay and I refuse to gloat about it and by not gloating over this I again show what a superb specimen of humanity I've become since joining Free Republic.

Read some of the comments on the link. Some people’s thoughts about what a business owner should earn and should pay for are just truly amazing.

Proof that Obama is lying and even he thinks its true is that he just delayed that mandate a year.

The average low-info type out there IS pretty much clueless about what it takes to run a business and meet a payroll.

They have this concept that you just have this big pot of money sitting in your basement somewhere, and you’re just too stingy to give them a bigger share of it.

Best education I had was working my way thru college in a friend’s landscaping business. He was married with kids. I truly felt bad when I learned he actually had to take money away from his family to cover his half of my FICA and my Workers Comp.
