“We are willingly turning into a third world country? Why?”

This is what really steams me! I hate to use the old frog-in-the-pot parable but that is what is happening here. Hardly anyone remmebers toilets that work well, and now we have many other appliances (washers, dishwashers, etc.) that don’t work worth a diddle and are horribly expensive and detergents that don’t clean. Instead of blaming the enviro-fascists, the EPA, and liberals, people blame the companies making these products. It’s infuriating!

This is causing more than just inconvenience. There is some evidence that keeping water heaters at a lower temperature makes it a fine environment for breeding germs. It is possible some people are getting respiratory infections from shower spray. Also, germs not being killed in laundry.

Socialism destroys the environment and creates health hazards. Capitalism and private property create progress, prosperity, and a cleaner, healthier environment. Too bad people are too dumb to believe it.

I didn't consider that. But I have to agree. I sold a toilet that was manufactured in the 1980s for my father. He was amazed at how much people were willing to buy it for. It was in perfect shape and had been properly removed and stored for almost 25 years. It was nothing special except it WAS NOT the low flow toilet. It would flush a matchbox car into the city sewer just fine.

Hardly anyone remmebers......

Read an article this weekend on your specific points.

The problem today is that none of today's appliances do what they're intended to do.

For instance, we don't have toilets that flush, we have "toilets that save water".

We don't have dishwashers that wash dishes, we have "Cost-conscious, energy-saving, water-conserving appliances". And so on.

Sez me, I'd rather have something that I needed to use once, that did the job right.
