Just until the genuine Hawaiian BC records are radioactive dust.

Did the sequester shut down all our radar sets?

Our radar operators would need to wear sunglasses when they painted that aircraft.

Oddly enough that aircraft could be quite effective in a first strike scenario. In peacetime our adversaries, as we, also fly sorties in international airspace toward our potential foes. This is for training and to see the response of our potential foes. We do not shoot them down as they do not shoot ours down in international waters. The TU-16 can carry stand off weapons i.e. cruise missiles.

A group of TU-16s with nuclear armed cruise missiles could take out our Pacific Fleet that is on the surface, in short order. We would not know the difference between a routine sortie and a first strike until they launched their missiles. If their "routine sorties" included low level penetration runs we might not even know until well after the launch of the cruise missiles that will be flying low low low above the ocean.

The Tu-16 is not a sophisticated aircraft. The Tu -16 is cheap. The Tu-16 can carry very sophisticated weapons and release them to do their havoc. Sometimes cheap is good military policy.
