If I’m on a deserted road in New York State and I have to shoot someone in self defense then the first thing I’ll do is go home to Wyoming, stop at the gun shop and buy a new barrel for my pistol, swap it out, melt down the old one, and never mention any of this to anyone.
Because even if I’m in the right if it’s New York I’ll be wrong.
If you keep a few spare barrels, firing pins and ejectors along with the discipline to retrieve your casings you shouldn’t have any problems. OR start carrying a revolver.
Put in a spare barrel now and keep the original in a safe place.
