'Redneck millionaire' and 'Duck Dynasty' star eyed for La. House seat
Washington Examiner ^ | 8/12/2013 | Paul Bedard

A new political dynasty might soon be joining the Kennedys, Clintons and Bushes: Duck Dynasty, that is.

Some key Republican operatives are eager to woo one of the hit show's stars--Willie Robertson--to run for the seat given up by retiring Republican Rep. Rodney Alexander.

Alexander, expressing frustration with divided government, is going to work in Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's cabinet. He will leave at the end of September and a special election will be held to fill the open seat.

He represents the 5th District, including Monroe, La., home to the group headed by Robertson, the game call and hunting companies Duck Commander and Buck Commander. Alexander and his staff are also friendly with the Robertson family, especially Willie. Sign Up for the Paul Bedard newsletter!

Robertson is more famous for the TV hit Duck Dynasty on A&E about the family business, in which where he is known for being the CEO prankster. He is a self-described "redneck millionaire."

"My boys want to run Willie Robertson for the seat," said a key outside advisor to House GOP leadership. The source said that efforts are being made to interest Robertson into running.

On one episode Phil was telling Martin how after the dust cleared he and all his brothers except one achieved college degrees. When Martin asked which did not Phil just said "look deep into the eyes of Si Robertson, there ain't no degree in there". I was priceless. lol

These folks are serious in their Christian beliefs.

They are quite serious about Christianity.

Alan, the unbearded brother, will join the show this season. He's been a preacher for something like 20 years.

A quote by Jase Robertson from the old Duck Commander show that used to be on the Sportsman’s Channel.

“You know that Gene that makes people feel embarrassed when you say something stupid in front of a crowd of people? Willy doesn’t have that gene!!”

I will never support or vote for anyone who is famous for being on TV or in movies.

While I understand the perspective that a professional deceiver (actor) should not be someone's choice as a leader, you may want to give at least a consideration to someone who was on the television because of their success in the real world first.

Because the Repubs are going for the low info non-voters that live in TV fantasy world. Many of those probably couldn’t name their own state’s Governor...but a Duck Dynasty star? All they would have to do is look at the DD t-shirt they bought at Bass Pro Shop...and are probably wearing right now.

There are plenty of us that could not be considered a low information voter that would raise many members of this family above the majority of politicians as a better choice.

Not Willie. He'd being shaving his beard off and hanging around with those Karl Rove types.

Now this guy would shake things up. Phil would too.

Most of the low-information voters aren’t evil, they’re just uninformed, especially the conservative leaning folks (which is probably a majority) can be reached to ~OUR~ side, this is a numbers game and we can win!

“...get a normal American (read: NOT a LAWYER) in the house!! “

****

63% of the delegates to the Constitutional Convention were lawyers. That’s about the same percentage of Senators today who are lawyers (including Ted Cruz).

As for the House, about 37% are attorneys.

It isn’t the legal profession that’s the problem. It’s socialist views and corruption of our unaccountable “representatives.”

Never watched their show, but my wife is a big fan.

By the looks of them, they remind me a lot of some friends, not really into the civilization thing yet, LOL!
