For some reason, I’m thinking a long-distance sniper shot as they both hiked down the trail. I would think a “man-hunt” and confrontation with a bunch of FBI guys would have ended poorly for the girl. Glad she is okay. So sad about her mom and brother.
I think you’re right. If there had been a firefight, she likely would have been hit.
I’m all for giving a guy his day in court and all, but the girl was at risk. That changes the rules.
