SUNNYVALE -- A man who phoned police to report he had killed a person was himself shot and killed by officers after he reportedly charged at them with a weapon according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
.... Moments after the shooting, police found a woman's body inside the house and confirmed she was the victim of a homicide.
..... Neighbor accounts and public records suggest that a husband and wife lived at the home in the 600 block of San Pedro Avenue, ...
Police went to the home after a caller, believed to be the man who sparked the standoff, told dispatchers that he had killed someone inside, Capt. Dave Pitts said.
Arthur Henrick, whose residence on Coachella Avenue directly faces the home, said he was startled awake just after 8 a.m. by the sound of a police bullhorn telling the man inside "to come out with your hands in the air."
About 10 a.m., SWAT officers approached the home with guns drawn, and as they got near, the man charged them with a weapon, Pitts said.
The man died at the scene.
"At some point, we have to make entry to see if somebody is injured," Pitts said. "We're trying to do it safely without injuring anybody else, but unfortunately he forced our hand."
Police then searched inside the home and found a woman's body, but did not say how she died.
Henrick described the couple inside the home as good neighbors, "quiet and respectful." In more than 15 years living in the neighborhood, he couldn't recall any conflicts that spilled into public sight or police being called to the home.
"It's all very sad," Henrick said..... The woman's death marked Sunnyvale's third homicide of the year.

Sadness in Sunnyvale.
for the silicon valley ping list
!!!
They lock down the street, or was it more or less hush hush?
Close to home ping!
Pretty scary. You can’t always trust the news media, but this sounds like suicide by police after killing his wife.
Unfortunately, you can't always trust law enforcement either. Maybe he was "armed" with a salad fork or a dessert spoon when he allegedly put an entire SWAT team in great "fear" for their lives.
I've become quite cynical over the past few years.
Sad. Yes,, but considering the state of this things.. it could have been worse.. Don’t mess with the law in Sunnyvale or Santa Clara..
20 years ago, Sunnyvale was the best managed town on the west coast.
Not any more!
Hmmmm ..?? Another suicide by cop ..??
Sounds like Murder-Suicide, with the guy getting the cops to do what he didn’t have the balls to do.
just the 3rd homicide of the year... not too shabby...
