I don’t even want to get into the first influx of Russians we had in the late 70s - the poor Russians! They flooded our NYC hospitals and immediately got on welfare, food stamps and Medicaid.
And let’s not forget the Russian Mafia that is centered in Brooklyn and controls a part of the drug trade.
This is not Russians-Americans, btw. I’m talking about Russian immigrants.
I agree, those Russians should never have been admitted into the USA and most certainly should not be in the USA today without proper papers. I rued the day when such persons were allowed favored treatment for immigration because of political sympathy. Such political patronizing has not been, in my opinion, a plus for the USA be it Russian, Asians or Latinos.
