Maybe not stupid, but certainly not as smart as he thinks he is.
AA is what got him where he is, not his intelligence.
Sure, but he's also pretty typical of some White people who coast from prep school to the Ivy League and into law firms or college and foundation positions.
From the article:
But no one really believes that and even Obamas most ardent critics have never questioned his intelligence. Instead of the hapless dunce in the mold of liberals anti-Bush caricatures, conservatives see Obama as a conniving radical. Or an out-of-touch, former law professor, ivory tower elitist. Either way, not dumb.
It's silly to think that opponents (or supporters of politicians) have one universal and fixed image of their political love or hate objects. The prevailing images fasten on something about the politician, but usually have as much to say about the critics (or fans) and where they're coming from.
From the "Austrian language" gaffe on, it was pretty clear that Obama, like many members of his generation in high positions didn't have much grasp of geography or history. That didn't necessarily mean he was stupid, but he wasn't as educated as his fans thought he was. Obama had the polished surface of an Ivy League graduate, but he never struck me as independent-minded or a deep thinker or especially reflective.
He was raised and influenced by marxists and that is how he thinks. How did America elect a person who doesn’t know how many states we have and what cities are located on the Gulf Coast? And listen to him without his teleprompter. He is stupid. He was elected because of the color of his skin. If he was white, he’d be unemployed.
