My father was the planning director at Vought when they developed the A-7 and was there from ‘53 to ‘82. I got to visit the manufacturing area in Grand Prairie a few times as a kid.

Good attack airframe...a bitch from which to take gas, particularly in an F-14A at night. Wing-mounted reel, hose, & drogue on a stubby-winged aircraft with a really good roll rate — and a Tomcat with a lousy roll rate and high-bypass turbofans w/ slow spool-up trying to stab that thing. Roller coaster ride every time, day or night. But thanks for being there with the Texaco when needed.
