Try to keep up. While the Ruskies are indeed never to be underestimated or taken lightly there is a bunch of stuff that they don’t have. While they CLAIM to have deep diving subs they DO NOT have piping systems that we don’t have. It’s not the hull that limits depth-—it’s the seawater systems. While the SUBROC was a good unit it’s long since been replaced by the HARPOON and its cousins. As to noise, our subs have been quiet holes in the water for over four decades. Russian subs have never been quiet-—we claimed we could hear them coming from a shore-side barstool. Since they had a lot of room to improve I guess it’s easy to make the case that they have? Ivan was never willing to spend money on rubber mounts, flex hoses, and all the small things that go along with them. If you want to have an adventure try to find out where you can buy a rubber flex hose in Russia? Remember our Navy P-3’s? With their sonobuoys they always know where Ivan is.

Before telling another Freeper to "Keep up" on a techinical thread, it might be good to have your own house in order.

Perhaps research exactly what the mission of the SUBROC and Harpoon is and how one could possible replace the other.
