The White House announced that President Barack Obama will award the Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award, to 16 recipients including television star and businesswoman Oprah Winfrey, legendary Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee and former President Bill Clinton.
“The Presidential Medal of Freedom goes to men and women who have dedicated their own lives to enriching ours,” Mr. Obama said in a statement released by the White House. “This year’s honorees have been blessed with extraordinary talent, but what sets them apart is their gift for sharing that talent with the world.”
Mr. Obama will award the medals later this year. In total, 16 people will receive the award, the White House said.

Well, he did give one to Harvey Milk too for all the good work he did in SF. Perhaps he should have given one to the inventor of Twinkies too or to Dan White.
We (FR) should come up with out own reward to send to these ‘winners’.

White man 4
White woman 4
Black man 3
Hispanic man 2
Asian man 1
Jewish man 1
Black woman 1
It is almost like they took California’s demographics and used them for a quota system.
Sally Ride was a lesbian who publicly endorsed obama in ‘08. Only surprise is she didn’t get this award while alive. Maybe obama was playing it safe because she was white and you never can trust them, even the space crackas.
