I guess the next question would be if there are any democrat challengers? Sounds like there needs to be in order to keep the dems from voting in republican primary and re electing Graham.

That's precisely what happened in 2008 and the rules have not changed significantly. It's a problem indeed. Graham's defeat will not be easy at all.
